Pearson has officially confirmed a new exam format for PTE Academic and PTE UKVI, set to roll out on August 7, 2025. This marks one of the most significant updates in recent years, introducing changes that aim to evaluate communication skills in more practical, real-life scenarios.

The Speaking section will now feature two brand-new question types — Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation. Other adjustments include revised task distribution, modified timings, and updated scoring logic for key questions such as Read Aloud and Reading & Writing Fill in the Blanks.

The announcement has sparked widespread anxiety among students. Many are rushing to book exam slots before the update, while others remain unsure whether to prepare for the old or new format. The uncertainty about scoring and assessment of the new question types has only added to the stress, leaving students searching for trustworthy practice resources.

In response, Alfa PTE has become the first and only platform worldwide to introduce practice modules and mock tests in the new format. By offering early access, Alfa PTE allows students to familiarize themselves with changes weeks before the official rollout.

“We understand the panic exam updates create,” said Fatima Khan, Head of Training at Alfa Education. “Our goal was to remove uncertainty and give students a realistic preview of the new test. We’ve worked extensively with academic and technical teams to ensure the mock exams replicate Pearson’s new standards.”
